i dunno, i guess i'll go at 8 in case there's some non ft.us quizzo players. i'll see if troy wants to come out.
We went to National Mechanics because a friend was in town. The host had good questions but his microphone presence left something to be desired. He gave best team name award to "Jello Jigglers," which was the least interesting name, but maybe that's his little joke to himself. Decent science and music questions, though.
Actually, just last night, I said "I remember this place being bigger." It's big, but not huge, and it was crowded enough that we couldn't get a table until the last round, despite all of our staring at two oblivious women* taking up a booth and not ordering anything or playing quizzo for two hours.

There were three people at OR's last night. Kate, Walt, and Irish John.
I think we're lacking in the committment department.
i think they're lacking in the commitment department. shackamaximum is still kicked and there's still no jameson. i really try to like that place, they keep making it harder and harder.
Yeah, you got a point. Its a Catch 22 situation maybe. No money to invest in beer or whiskey, until people show up. No one to show up until you invest in beer or whiskey.
I might add, the food has taken a nose dive as well. Last time we got the mac and cheese, not so much cheese, and the crab was not the good lump meat it was the first time. It had the consistency of tuna fish.

Do not put this on us. I've been pumping money into that bar steadily for the past year. They've got to keep up their end of the bargain too.

I'll buy them a few bottles of Jameson. I'll also go tonight for a bit after dinner if anyone wants to. We can drink white russians.

I was thinking that the other night. I really hope not. I don't have it in me to start all over at a new bar right now.
I don't know how that guy is surviving. I really thought there was more going on there. I didn't mean to imply it was anyone's fault that its dying a slow death, either the quiz or the bar. If that happens, oh well. It's not like there aren't other options.
the jameson has been replaced, as far as the beer goes i believe they have the ppa, newbold, rowhouse, yards pale ale, miller lite, pb and the brawler? don't think the shackamaximum has been replaced, but they do have cans of budweiser. the dogfish 60 minute bottles are not restocked.
The first and only time I've been there the bartender and I had to communicate via writing on the back of receipt paper because of how loud the awful music in there was. He wound up getting us full refunds for our covers though.
KFN got their license back last week but they were operating for a little while as BYOB for shows only. Not sure what happened there but it was an interesting business model.
I hope our pool night friends come back more regularly. Those other two kids, not so much. I hope they manage to get their toilet paper today through legal means.

Gin and pruno doesn't count. Somehow I expected better.
The gin has been sitting there for over 3 months. I won't drink it, no matter how thirsty. The pruno is to help ex-cons in case they ever get jailsick.

6-8 $2 Craft Draughts and $2 shots of Jameson.
No wonder they don't have any left by Wednesday.
I feel like he does a similar special on Wednesdays as well that ends just as we're all getting there.
they weren't doing the $2 crafts for a while. glad to see it's back. they need to replace that shackamximum keg, pbc doesn't have anymore. it's time to forge onwards. they used to carry a troeg's tap. i miss it.

i have a meeting at 7, but i'm giving that till 9 at the latest. i'll try to be there by the start of the first round.
the picture round will not screw me this week. i've been studying celebrity photos, random pictures of historic buildings, south american pack animals and old cartoon characters.
I went to Atlantis yesterday with a dear, dear friend and I found it amusing that the one guy in the bar with the deepest foreign accent served as the dj of quizzo. On some questions it was difficult to fully understand the whole thing. Other than that, and being stuck at the pretzel table, it was a pleasant experience.

Oddly enough, he speaks English.
Yeah, he's just got an Irish accent.

Did you like it before AB bought them? Or was it just afterwards? I've had people say it tastes different since the change out of Latrobe. I don't really notice, but I don't have a very discerning beer palate.
I can't help it, I was raised on it. Goes down like water, which is one of the reasons I like it so much.

No. I'm sure it tastes better now that it's not made from the swill of the Latrobe River and runoff from the Latrobe Paper Factory, but the damage has been done. We were a Pabst family, but society has ruined that beer for me for the most part.
went to union transfer for the first time. i really like the venue. it's nice that they have a back bar area that's separate from the actual floor. the balcony was closed, but it looked nice. drink prices were fair ($4 high life, $5.50 magic hat, $6 flying fish & $6 mixed drinks). they do a "happy hour" from show close until 1, but i can't remember the pricing. i'm excited to see more stuff there.
We sat in a cold bar answering questions for the absolute benefit of no one. Couldn't even use our certificate cause it wasn't considered a real quiz.
Glad you had fun. :)

went for $2 quesadillas last night. there was only one rolling rock can left. i'm assuming this is your work.
oof, i'm in but he's gotta get it moving before 9:30 tonight. this 11:30 thing is making my thursdays miserable.
If three hours at the bar ruins you that much the next day, I think you've got bigger issues than the starting time of quizzo.
it's the 10:30-11:30 hour when everyone decides shots are a grand idea, and i realize i really meant to be in bed an hour ago.
this is coming from the man that works in pajamas. you know what a hangover on the el is like? between the shrieking high school girls and the occasional passing stench it's vomit inducing.
Yeah, I'm all about the 8:30 sharp thing. I have repeatedly tried to explain this theory to someone I know who happens to have the luxury of working from home.
I'd rather get there early and get the extra time on the front end, than to hang around when its over.
I really don't like to wake up at 4:45 am and still be buzzed.
Car is fine, but I have a friend coming over at like 4:30-5 to watch exploited college athletes compete for our amusement. So between that and Quizzo beers, I'd rather leave my car where it is right now.
Thats right, its almost March Madness...the Sweet Sixteen, the Final Four, etc, etc, etc.
Just watch the last two minutes, its the only part that matters.
The nails has been put in that coffin.
Just talked to John, he called Walt, the quiz at O'R's is officially dead, starting tonight.
(Hope anyone who had a certificate used it!)
I was gonna pm you, Kenzo. I spoke to John just tonight about Lukes. Apparently the owners daughter came on the site, and said her mom was up for doing something different. John would love a place in the hood, now that he's a local. I told John I would give him the location, and he should stop around and visit it. He will now have Wednesday nights free.
Just as a side note....
Irish John will be doing a quiz on Monday nights at the Devils Alley, I believe its around 19th & Chestnut.
If your in the area on Mondays.
Next time I see Terri I'll ask her if she's up for it. I think she'd be OK to host it, John just needs to go over there and ask. I know you're anti-Facebook but is John on Facebook?
yeah, i talked to john at loco pez the other night and he seemed pretty certain that it wouldn't last much longer. i didn't realize he meant, like, not even a week longer. RIP, o'r's quizzo. you were fun while you lasted.
