RIP MCA

I was a huge fan of the Beastie Boys back in high school. So sad that he died at a young age.

Cancer sucks.

The Beastie Boys have had me as a huge fan for many many years. I credit their music with introducing me to both an appreciation of awesome music and my love of New York City. MCA was always my favorite because he was sort of the quiet smirky one. I know I shouldn't be this sad about someone I don't know, but I am.

This is my passive aggressive signature. Yeah it's about you.

My first tapes at age five were License to Ill and The Jazz Singer soundtrack. Who would've thought that Neil Diamond would outlive The Beasties?!

Love is a Mattlefield.

that is really sad. i saw them back in high school, and i'll never forget the show (or the underage drinking that occurred afterwards...) RIP, MCA.

ah, that's a shame! i hope the beastie boys retire the name. it would be kind of sad to see them keep going without him.

gotta get up and be somebody.

favorite beastie boys albums?

paul's boutique was the first one i owned. i think it'll always be my favorite. ill communication is probably a better album, thoug.

i liked license to ill and paul's boutique the best. check your head was good, too, as was ill communication.

Totally Paul's Boutique but Ill Communication had Sabotage and Root Down so it's a close second. I also owned their hardcore album Aglio E Olio, but it was in a huge folio of HC, punk and ska CDs that was stolen from my college dorm room during my senior year. I definitely need to get that on to my iPhone ASAP.

I have been writing the obituary for this band since 1998. Look forward to a post around 3am tomorrow morning. I'm crushed right now.

Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond are being kept alive on embalming fluid. They've been dead since 1991.

On the advice of someone who probably queened-out, this signature has been deleted.

I am anti death penalty. But their support of Mumia appalled me.

There was a Free Mumia tour/show with them and RATM back in the late 90s.

i loved their music too but i refuse to listen to it. had to resort to listening to the village people because of their anti beastie boys song: Why MCA.
