Benefit for the family of Dave Dougherty

Dear Friend,
It is with a very heavy heart that this letter is being addressed to you. As you know, Dave Dougherty passed away suddenly on October 13th leaving his family, friends, the children of Fishtown, and everyone that knew him completely devastated. Dave had just turned 53 years old and spent more than half of his life taking care of the youth in our community through sports. Dave was the President and Athletic Director of Fishtown A.C. with responsibilities too numerous to list.
He also accepted the responsibility of coaching travel teams, teaching the little children In-House programs such as tee-ball, soccer, wiffleball, flag football and the fundamentals of baseball and softball through the pitching machine. Dave taught our youth the value of volunteerism, teamwork, sportsmanship and the importance of education. This was a non-paying, second full-time job that Dave did and yet never wanted nor asked for anything in return.
Dave had a heart of gold and he gave from it until he no longer could. We, the friends of Dave would like to open our hearts to his family and try to ease some of the emotional and financial pain of losing someone so dear.
However we need your help to do so! On January 21, 2012 we are hosting a benefit in Dave’s name at the Fireman’s Hall 5th & Willow Sts from 6:00 pm – 10:00pm tickets are $30.00 per person. We are asking if you too may be able to give from your heart for this cause.
A contribution of any type will be appreciated, more than you can imagine; possibly a basket, bottle of cheer, or a monetary gift, no matter how big or small.
