Is this that crappy looking building in front of the old club? Maybe it is a garage or something now?

Hey fuzzybottoms, is this the building we are talking about? Kinda has a sketchy car wash operating out of it right now?

I'm going to guess yes. I wasn't able to attend the screening but did confirm the scope of the project with those who were there. It definitely involves tearing down a building (which I heard was not a nice looking building) and the associated billboard and then erecting a new billboard in the same spot. The picture you have above seems to fit the bill.

That's the right building. The building with the single garage front and the billboard mounted to the roof is the only building left on that block.

I say make 'em sign a CBA that says the neighborhood won't agree unless they turn the land underneath into a dog park or free parking unless they already have architectural drawings of another structure to replace the building they're getting rid of.

Otherwise, you get an asphalt or dirt lot with a tall billboard on it.

LOL, visions of all the jaywalkers crossing Delaware there. Kaboom

A parking lot isn't an awful idea until someone comes around and redevelops the whole area

I think you bring up a good point -- what does the Waterfront Master Plan say about this parcel? My guess is probably not much, but it would be interesting to find out.

So what was the result on this last night?

This passed. I don't have the final count handy.

The applicant (CBS outdoor advertising) is a tenant on the property and owns and operates the billboard. The property owner has allowed them to demolish the building a replace the billboard, in the same place, on a single pole. They plan on clearing out the building, paving over the lot cleanly, and putting in a little greenery on the sidewalk side.
