Of Mythic Proportions at Walking Fish Theatre
The Public Performance of Of Mythic Proportions will be a tribute to
using our creative energies, through art and live theatre. We can
transform tragedy into something that transcends daily life. Please
help me by focusing on the tremendous work these students have created
and will share with the community, now in this time of tragedy.

I think you will agree with me that when you see this production, you
will see these young people creating a space for peace in their lives,
consciously choose creative energy over violent.

Of Mythic Proportions Public Performance
B. Someday Productions of Kensington/Fishtown, in partnership with
Mariana Bracetti Academy High School will present the culmination of a
semester's work with the students at a Public Performance on
Wednesday, January 18, 2012. There will be two performances: 4:00pm
and 6:00pm. The performance, entitled "Of Mythic Proportions" was
created from the 9th-12th grade student's personal stories about
growing up in Kensington and how violence has become a part of their
lives. The students will perform their work at The Walking Fish
Theatre for the community and the general public. In addition to the
performance, there will be a short discussion raised by the topics in
the stories, with a chance for the audience to interact with the
performers. Following the workshop will be a reception with
refreshments courtesy of Whole Foods Market. The cost is free.

"Of Mythic Proportions" is the 2010 Barrymore Award winner from the
Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia for Educational Excellence
and Community Service.

Thank you to our sponsors: the Patricia Kind Family Foundation, the
Seybert Foundation, the Sheila Fortune Foundation, the Subaru
Foundation, and the Union Benevolent Association, and our lead
Teaching Artist, Hannah Tsapatoris MacLeod. Together, we hope to give
the youth of the community an opportunity to express themselves in a
creative endeavor and to share with the community positive avenues and
alternatives to violence.
