We had a huge scare last night. Our 9 month old pomeranian Zoey was hit by a car outside our house. She is ok thank God, I think the bumper hit her and kind of tossed her to the side. The person in the car, who had tinted windows all over the car slowed down and kept going. He or she had to of known what they did because my son was screaming. The car was speeding and I was told blew the stop sign. We live at Palmer and Memphis and I can not tell you how many cars do not stop at that intersection. Cars are speeding through the neighborhood and with the nice weather coming, its only a matter of time before a child is hit. Please, please slow down and stop at all stop signs! Take the extra minutes and save a life!

So sorry to hear this, glad
So sorry to hear this, glad Zoey will be ok. How could they not have seen you with the dog on a leash. Must have been those blasted tinted windows. So scary.

You remember what kind of car
You remember what kind of car it was? I almost got hit last night by a car with all tinted windows that was speeding. I was stopped at a stop sign. As I started to drive (no one was at the other sign) a car came speeding up and looked like they were not going to stop. I had to speed up to avoid them hitting the back end of my car because they were barely stopping. People need to calm down!! I think that one was a honda
I wouldn't wait in line for Jesus Christ Almighty to serve me breakfast.

Always get a license plate
Always get a license plate number and description. Even if nothing comes of it, the more instances of reports will heighten awareness for any repeat offenders. I don't think we'll ever be able to curb the rolling stops that this (and many other neighborhoods) see constantly. The best we can do is look out for ourselves and each other. Throwing rocks at cars that run stop signs is not an advisable solution.

People drive like idiots
People drive like idiots around here. Someone who hits a dog and does not stop should be pulled out of their car and beaten. Makes me MAD.
But people also need to watch their pets carefully. Most dogs are pretty dumb when it comes to the threat posed by cars (cats are way smarter on this)
Pedestrians are also amazingly retarded. I cannot say how many times someone has just walked right into traffic in front of me without even looking.
On residential streets with parallel parking if you are driving a regular car it is virtually impossible to see beyond the parked cars that something/someone is about to dart out.
everyone needs to be careful
Empty factories to the east and all our waste

She actually ran out of my
She actually ran out of my house when my sons friend opened the door. My son yelled and ran after her thats probably why she ran out in the street but the car was speeding, had he/she been doing the speed limit they would of been able to stop. It was a black 4 door car..not sure of the make or model.. it happened so fast. But whoever it was apparently knew they hit something because they slowed down and sped away. I see kids crossing in the middle of the block in between cars all the time and I am always on my kids about the importance of crossing at the corner and looking both ways. It just seems like memphis and palmer is getting bad with cars not stopping.

If your really worried then
If your really worried then go to Grangers, or even Home Depot and buy a portable speed bump. Even some safety cones. or make your own. Couple time flying over a speed bump and the low rider tinted window salsa/hip hop blasting colio kids taking their shortcuts back to the bario will get the hint.

Palmer/Belgrade and, worst,
Palmer/Belgrade and, worst, Palmer/Thompson are also very dangerous. No one comes to a complete stop. And it's not low-riders but locals driving SUVs and mini-vans.

I didnt think you could
I didnt think you could purchase those. I will look into it though. I have cones that I put out on 400 block of memphis when my kids are out there playing ball. We just move them when we see a car coming but they see it and come slowly down the street. It will be hard with Palmer because most cars dont even stop at the stop signs and wont see the cones until they run them over.

Tina, don't waste your money
Tina, don't waste your money because it will be confiscated by the streets dept or the police -- they are illegal for residents to put up outside their home on the public street. If you lived on a small, rarely traveled street, I'd say go ahead but not on Palmer. Save your money, my friend.

I'm really sorry to hear this
I'm really sorry to hear this happened but glad that everyone is okay. I was actually just about to post about Palmer and Memphis --people are turning illegal rights onto Memphis and speeding down the street. I'll start that in another thread.

Yea I wasn't going to buy
Yea I wasn't going to buy them for Palmer. It wouldn't make a difference. I'm just getting really tired of all the cars speeding down Palmer St. Its ridiculous! Semi we have the same problem with the 400 block of Palmer st. Cars try to turn from Palmer onto Memphis and don't even slow down or stop. There have been many situations when my husband is playing ball with my sons and cars will try to go by and my husband will refuse to move. When he says its a one way street we have had people actually argue with him. One person lives on the block. Come on it will take a few extra minutes to go around the block!!
