Found Dog- Male Shepherd Mix

Forums:

Hello... my neighbor found this dog around York and Emerald- neither of us can bring it inside due to our own dogs. Anyone missing an older shepherd mix? Very friendly and obviously well cared for.

Neighbor says she's called the SPCA- said I'd help by posting around online.

Bump for the doggie!

I'd hate to see a good dog go to the SPCA... I would be willing to foster the dog if you can't keep it until the owners are found - or at least more of an effort has been made to find the owners.

this guy belongs to someone on Earl St, I always see him wandering around Palmer Park at night because they let him out by himself.

i can't even imagine for one second being able to exist let alone relax if my dog was out wandering around. can't imagine how people do this by choice.

Same way they do it with their kids

ah, such a shame... it all happened so fast- my neighbor had the dog taken away within an hour of finding him, and I haven't seen her since... I can only assume he was taken to the shelter at Erie and D. If I find out more I'll post an update. Now I feel terrible. He was a nice little guy, but I have two cranky old-lady dogs that wouldn't let him in the house.

Please let me know if the dog is still at the shelter and needs to be picked up and fostered

Hey, I go there every night to look for my dog, so I will look/ask for him when I go tonight. Are you already an approved foster parent? They have to keep strays at the shelter for 48 hours, so if you are not you can probably apply today and pick him up when his hold is up.

Totally agreed.

My coworker is interested in fostering him if someone doesn't come forward. She's been going there regularly looking for an older male dog that will get along with her current one. I'll ask her if she has applied yet.

ok- here's the details: he's being held until 8 pm Saturday night at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave.- not sure what happens after that.

Call 267-385-3800 > Press 0 for dispatcher > ID# A15164762 (they've named him Mighty Max)

I'm the one who found him wandering the street, and since I had no place to keep him (my dog is not dog friendly) I called the SPCA to pick him up and and to buy 48 hours to find him a home. I just called ACCT to follow up and he is scheduled to be picked up by a rescue group on Sunday. Whoever you are that is rescuing him THANK YOU!!! He is the sweetest dog and he deserves a warm loving place to rest...he seemed so tired from roaming the streets.

Just an FYI to whoever is picking him up...ACCT said he is still pending a medical examination, but I do know that he did have some small wound on his left front side below where his collar would be. His fur was so thick I couldn't see the precise injury, but while he was waiting with me the bleeding did stop. He did not appear to be in any pain, just happy to eat 2 chicken breasts, drink water and lay at my feet wanting belly rubs : ) Enjoy him, he is a model companion..which is more than I can say for his former owner!

If you wouldn't mind posting a follow up after you pick him up I would greatly appreciate it. : )
