Today, the St. Laurentius School Community appeals its recommended closure. Regardless of your religious affiliation, all in our community can recognize that having institutions like St. Laurentius help make our neighborhood better.
For the past 15 years, as enrollment has declined across the Archidocesan system, our school has maintained an average enrollment rate of 83% of school capacity. This is not a dying school. This is a vibrant part of our neighborhood, an asset and something that means about as much to me as anything in my life.
With all that is going on regarding the Archdiocese recently, a lot of it bad, remember as you walk past one of the signs in the windows that says "Fishtown needs St. Laurentius," that the parents, students and alumni of St. Laurentius and our neighborhood Catholic Schools are your neighbors and we are all part of the same Fishtown family.

I'm praying that the Archdiocese makes the right decision here. Fishtown really needs this.

Maybe the archerbishop will let you keep the school open if you agree to make it easier to spell. That would probably attract more kids too. Parents probably don't like sending their kids to schools they can't spell.
I think it should be named Saint Lauren Shush or maybe just Saint El. I'd send my kid there if it was named one of those. Okay I don't really have kids but I'd send my wombat. Do they take wombats?

Good luck AJ - they are and
Good luck AJ - they are and have been in my prayers. That would be a terrible loss for the neighborhood.
Thud I believe they might take Wombats if they are well behaved, adhere to the dress code, and pay tuition on time. But that might just be a rumor.
