Tax Accountant

Forums:

Does anybody have a recommendation on a local tax accountant?

I have been doing the Turbo thing for years, but I am considering shelling out some money to have someone take a look at how I take care of my business expenses to ensure I am doing them properly.

And yes, I would prefer not to deal with HR Block, Jackson Hewitt type places. Someone small and local that I could get to early would be great.

Great local guy and did my taxes quick and very reasonably priced. Offered to help out the FNA and is a regular sponsor of the RiverCity Festival. (October 6th, 2012, mark your calendar!)

I've heard lots of good things about Keith Daley.
I can't give personal testimony, because I get my taxes done by my stepsister.

Great recommendations! How much does it typically cost to get taxes done?

My name is Jim Becker, I'm an accountant, I just so happen to live a few doors down form KD on Memphis Street and I own my own practice, Becker Management LLC. Locally I'm the Treasurer for the Friends of Penn Treaty Park. Some of the Philadelphia businesses I do taxes for include the Philly Record Exchange, Surreal Sound Studios, and Village Green Productions in addition to many Personal Tax clients. My rate for Personal Returns is $85 an hour. My office is located 15 minutes over the bridge in Jersey but for my Philly clients i usually meet with them at their home or office to review and pickup their paperwork, do the return at my office, and then deliver everything back to them. My office number is 856-786-3148.

Priscila Santos & Sara Sam. Both are CPAs and experienced in Taxation and Accounting. They just opened their second office at 2645 E. Lehigh Ave in Fishtown. Their phone number is 215-667-8839.

Does anyone here file their own city wage tax, and if so, have you ever indicated that in some way on your federal return?

codergrrl's picture

I don't know if its indicated that you file your own, but they ask how much you paid in city wage.

Maybe they do ask that and I just do not remember ever filling in a value or was just dumb and skipped it because that section of my W2 for local taxes is blank.

I just did my taxes the other day, so I remember it. Its one of the figures that particularly annoys me.

I go to KD. I've had a few things to clear up due to the city wage tax and the business "privileged" tax outside of the regular return and they've helped me out for free, so I'm pretty much a loyal customer.

We should just call ourselves a church and then we dont have to pay any taxes. I'll be the priest and we can call it the Fishtown Area Religion of Thad. I don't care what you believe as long as you make a donation and put my avatar on your car's bumper. If you don't have a car you can put it on your baby stroller instead.
