I still loved Shane, even though he didn't do much for us this year. What is really sad is that it looks like Amaro has officially given up on this year. Bummer.
Unless they're getting a major league ready player, trading Pence is a big mistake. Right handed power hitters like him dont grow on trees. That just doesnt make sense if they plan to contend next year.
This year is done. Even if the starting pitching picks it up, there's no way they can win with that Pen.

I'm hoping they were freeing up money to sign Josh Hamilton

That would be nice. lots of free agent outfielders available next year. Hamilton, Michael Bourne, Andre Ethier... not sure if they are upgrades over Pence (and more expensive at that) but I guess Amaro had to do something. They need a 3rd baseman too.

Yeah, if Polanco's head gets any bigger he won't be able to hold it up. Am I the only one that thinks it's obvious that he's on some HGH? His temples didn't look that big in past years.
yea he's got a strangely shaped head. Dude is a hell of an infielder though when healthy. He was a great hitter too in his prime. Unfortunately his career is just about done.

That link was reporting it as a done deal, but now it looks like they're backtracking. 700level.com has it as a done deal too.
