Phils-Yanks here we go....

Should be a great series. I don't think anyone will question that the 2 best teams are playing this year. The Phils bats were smokin' against the Dodgers. I'm hoping the long layoff doesn't ruin it. We'll need to keep hitting clutch to win this series for sure. Yanks have been hitting the lefties too, I like Pedro and Blanton to come up big. and the Phils have to clean up their D. They won't be able to get away with errors and missing those double plays against the Yanks. I'm lookin' for chooch to have a big series, defensively; a couple pick offs and a few outs at the plate...

Lee vs. CC in game 1. ...CC is scary right now but so is Lee. At first I was thinking maybe we might not want to start Lee against Sabathia but if anyone can get to CC it's the Phils. I think late inning hits and the bullpen are going to be the keys to a game 1 win. Also looking like Rain again Weds (uggg). If game 1 gets postponed will they keep the off day between venue change? If not, that could be huge since it will restrict Sabathia to 2 starts (he could potentially start 3 games -1, 4 and 7- on short rest). I'm not so confident with Lee doing that.

So who is Cholly gonna put in there agaist Burnett in Game 2? Hamels or Pedro. Can you see Pedro and all the 'whos your daddy' stuff at Yankee stadium? That would be fun, especially if he can pitch a gem. Blanton for Game 4 unless we are down 2 games to 1, then Lee is the man.

Wow, is this great or what ...enjoy the ride everyone!

I just think there's a different way of showing pride between the two cities. Yes, there's a certain amount of expectation that we have for the Yankees. If the Phillies get 27 WS wins, it will be the same exact way, you will have JUST as many fairweather fans (I encounterd quite a few of them, already, during this WS), and the level of true excitement and passion will decrease too. Guarantee it. It's just the way things go, I think. It really has nothing to do with the fact that these people are NYers, in my opinion. I was in NYC for the series between the Yankees and the Mets, and every single day, there were passionate arguments in the street, people dressed head-to-toe in their teams' gear, screaming and yelling in the streets after the games...it was awesome. I felt like the Yankees showed a great deal of excitement...but they were tired! They really had to fight their way to that victory, past a team that was almost unbeatable! I thought Pettitte looked really excited, but incredibly exhausted at the same time. A-Rod was the most animated I've ever seen him. And Swisher was like a goofy puppy dog...oh wait...he always looks like a goofy puppy dog, except this time, his mom was out on the field telling him how much she loves him.

I disagree with that first sentence. I was a huge fan of baseball. Lived and breathed it. Now you have to put a gun to my head to watch or even care. I was a huge Metallica fan. I was actually one of their biggest fans. Had every album, t shirts, anything that had their name on it I bought. When they sued napster I quit. I promised them and myself I would not spend another dime on them. And I havent. I will not even buy guitar hero with metallica songs on it or even go to a movie with a metallica song in it. I am definitely a former fan of both of them. And I WAS a fan for sure.

That's ok, Larry: you are still in the "anger" stage. Depression is next.

No need to apologize, in fact I think you should nurture it into a deep and lasting hatred of the Skankees.

Thank god you are not bleacher creatures. I have sat with the bleacher creatures and they are mouthpieces, for sure; of Yankees pride? Sexual harassment maybe. Eye

I think it's just a totally different crowd. I definitely noticed the difference, though. I've heard people say that the accoustics of the new stadium are quieter than the old one, but who knows. I, myself, thought it was pretty silly that CBP roared every time every single pitch was thrown...but each team's fans are different. I think that Phillies fans show alot of their pride outwardly...and I know that me and all my Yankee fan friends aren't as rowdy...but then again, we aren't bleacher creatures...they are the mouthpieces of Yankees pride.
