Regarding using pitchers on

neilpuck's picture

Regarding using pitchers on short rest, add that the phillies will be familiar with the Yankees Pitchers as the series wears on. Especially potentially facing Sabathia for a third time. When Phillies fans talk about who will be on the mound for game 7, I don't think they're getting ahead of themselves, they just believe that they'll be able to hit Pettite on three days rest, and continue to expose a weak Yankees bullpen, while we have Pedro on regular rest, who has pitched very well this postseason.

I think Manuel should have yanked Lee in both starts an inning earlier which would have left him somewhat less worn for a 3 days rest start or extended relief appearance in game 7. I don't think there's anyone who thinks that Hamels will be on the mound. Clearly Charlie has limits, considering he used Madson last night. He needs to rely on Park for more than one inning, and he's very very capable of performing well for an extended stint.

and... perhaps working pitchers with only 3 days rest has shown to be a flawed plan?

I dunno man. It looked like they were in it to win. They got way to close by the end.

Of course the Phillies won

Of course the Phillies won last night. The Yankee's hearts were not in the game. But they hope to win game 6 or 7 so that they can get the World Series victory in Yankee Stadium before their hometown crowd. But this strategy MIGHT be a mistake. If so, A-rod, Jeter, Texiera, and the gang will be looking back at game 5 with regret that they didn't win.
