2000 Honda Civic Stolen

my 2000 white honda civic was stolen from in front of my house overnight on saturday.
my neighbors and i were hoping it was a joy ride situation, but sadly, they found the car in Camden, completely stripped and abandoned.

after talking with a friend, it seems this is the third civic stolen in fishtown recently that he's heard of! and at the lot where it was towed, they say they've seen a spike recently of Philly cars found in Camden. the guy at the lot actually showed me how they did it - and it was SO EASY.

please keep your eyes and ears open - it seems like there could be a ring happening here...

and especially, if you have a 2000 or older civic, get a boot for it or some other security device. my insurance company says that civics 2001 and newer have a chip in the key which makes it harder to steal the car.

Arrrg. We're in the process of swapping cars with husband's parents: our manual Corolla for their automatic 1998 Civic. The idea was to enable Eric to drive with his broken kneecap (can't do that with a clutch).

I drove the Civic in from Jersey yesterday, left it on the 700 block of Gaul for ONE NIGHT, and now it's gone.

The police are on their way over, but if you could keep an eye out for a forest green 1998 Civic with Jersey tags, we'd appreciate it. And Civic owners, stay vigilant! I didn't put a club on last night: it was still on the Corolla, and I should have moved it to the car more likely to get stolen Sad

sheesh! i'm borrowing a car from a friend right now until i can find one to buy. it happens to be a gold 4 door early 90's accord. i sure hope it doesn't get stolen while on my watch!!! yikes!
