Sidecar coming to Fishtown

Adam Ritter of frequent Meal Ticket haunt The Sidecar (2201 Christian St.) tells us that he’s just inked a deal for a second location. Located in a long-vacant bar space on the corner of Montgomery and Girard in Fishtown, his as-yet-unnamed project will be most comparable to a contemporary European bistro in both design and layout — picture a 30-seat U-shaped bar in the middle of the space, surrounded by a smattering of picnic bench-style seating. The location, which’ll be single-level to start out, is roughly twice the size of The Sidecar’s floorplan.

Manayunk Brew Pub will fill

Manayunk Brew Pub will fill a growler from anywhere for $10

Some brew pubs, like Triumph

Some brew pubs, like Triumph and I suspect Dock Street, will only fill their own growlers.

there are at least two

ronchito's picture

there are at least two places to get growlers in philly:

hawthorne's beer cafe (just opened): http://hawthornecafe.com/
growlers are $15 to purchase and insanely expensive to fill, though their growler beer options are supposed to be pretty rare/unique. bottle selection is pretty much equivalent to the foodery.

dock street brewing co: http://www.dockstreetbeer.com/
don't have any more info about this other than that they do indeed to growlers.

i suspect triumph brewing in old city also offers them too.

I'm super excited about the new bar! It's within walking distance from me. Yes!

Around here I have no idea where to get a growler filled but you can drive to Downingtown and get one at Victory Brewing Company. From their website:
GROWLERS FILLS
Our custom built growler filler has 20 brands available for you to enjoy at home. Growlers are the perfect way to enjoy draft only brands, limited releases or of course Victory favorites.

The 68oz German growlers are $15 to purchase (empty). Fills range in price from $7 to $12. On occasion, some brands may have restricted growler fills. Once you own your growler, simply wash it with hot water to prepare it for its next fill. Prost!
Brands below include seasonal brews and may not be available at our restaurant gift shop year round. All brands are subject to availability.

I found Waldo but not David. If he was wearing that snappy blue running suit I like so much I would've found him.
