Got out there early today to get a head start on clearing my sidewalks. OK! Let me just throw this out there. I have lived here for 25 years. Not ONE of the recent..less than five year residents..have shoveled their sidewalks. Joggers, runners, cyclists, skateboarders, avid dog walkers etc.....bless your hearts. No energy left for mundane tasks? Some of my neighbors live in a gated complex of condos and a house with a single driveway. When this developer came before the zoning board he presented the mandatory off street parking spots. Rarely if ever do the occupants use those..surprise. Most days 5 vehicles on the street. Shovel has not touched their sidewalk nor treacherous (even on a clear day) wide cobblestone driveway. If you live in a 1/2 million dollar condo with a 10 year tax abatement....BUY A FRIGGIN 6 DOLLAR BAG OF SALT.
What brought most of us here is the small town feel .....that just doesn't happen on its own. It is neighbor caring about neighbor. Feel better having vented.

About Circle Thrift, I
About Circle Thrift, I honestly thought it was me. But now i hear all of this, it's not me. I stopped going there & finding various places to donate my stuff. Kat you are right sometimes they have really unique items, i have an awesome cake dish from there. And there customer service totally sucks, but again I figured because I wasn't like them.

We have a lot of donations
We have a lot of donations because our tenants always leave loads of things behind when they move. I've stated to take my unwanted items to Thrift For Aids. They really do seem to appreciate the donations and I know it's going to a worthy cause.
Last time I dropped off at Circle, I had a brand new love seat, lamps, nice wood book cases, a dining table with 4 chairs and several boxes of kitchen things and clothes. They asked me to set things up so I said OK. No thanks or even an offer to give me a receipt.
The girl who worked the counter when they were at the other spot was always great. It just seems the new help could care less.
bummer. I've always had
bummer.
I've always had great big thank you's when I take stuff in, and never had any trouble getting help from folks.
and sales from there benefit MCC who do great relief and development work.

I take my stuff there
I take my stuff there because it's convenient and I'm lazy. But I don't think ultimately it's benefitting the people who could use it most. They're suprised when I ask for a receipt because I itemize for my taxes. The only time I ever got attitude was when I took a set of 4 Crate & Barrel chairs there--they balked they didn't have enough space. I said, "Well, they cost $150 each when I bought them and they're mid-century modern-like so I don't know that you're going to need to store them for long." They were okay with it but made me take them to the back and stack them, etc. But again, I'm not looking for good customer service because I don't plan on shopping there.

It has been hit or miss with
It has been hit or miss with me. Sometimes they are super nice, other times they could care less that I brought in two giant garbage bags full of stuff. No thank-yous ever. I do think they have really cool stuff - we love going in there to buy unique stuff. Not so much for the customer service though.

They seem to have the same attitude about working in the store. Any time I have ever been in I get a WHATEVER type attitude. I've dropped off all sorts of things for them to sell and can't ever remember getting a thank you. They have lost my business and I won't be giving them any more stuff.
Really? My experience has been exactly the opposite.

They will be less vague when somebody falls and hurts themselves outside their store. Or if they get slapped with a $50 ticket.
