Okay, this is the "name our baby" contest. We've got a few names picked out, but nothing seems to really stick. We've waffled for 9 months now, and its getting really close, so maybe someone out there has a name they'd like to suggest. Ladies, I know alot of you like to keep favorite names secret, because many of you fear you'll start a trend before you have a baby of your own to name. But I'd still be curious to hear some fresh suggestions. Oh, by the way, its going to be a girl.
And just to save you some time New Kenzo - Forms and Fishtown will not be seriously considered as names.
Finally, I know I said its a contest, but the only prize will be the satisfaction of naming one of Fishtown's newest residents.

As you know, I completely love the name Benjamin,
Mine of course being Benjamin Thomas..
Which is kinda funny know considering he love Thomas the Tank Engine so much, I think he wishes his name was Thomas, thus the need to yell,
BENJAMIN THOMAS!! really loud before he looks at you

One of my former coworkers has a daughter named Mairead (which he pronounces Murraid with the accent on the 2nd syllable) which is Gaelic for Margaret.
I agree with the strength versus cute idea too: if we'd had a girl she would have been Ruth Louise. As it is we have Benjamin Charles and Isaac Edward!
Blessings on the new one! As Isaac is getting bigger we have LOTS of extra infant stuff to share -- Private message if you need anything!
A very cool website is babynamevoyager.com It charts the popularity of names thru the years. I am a fan of non-trendy names with family significance or reference. Sometimes a family name works as a first name or a middle name. If you can't decide, nobody says you can't have 2 middle names -- both my girls do, and it doesn't shout "Pretension of English Nobility." (too much, anyway) Watch what the initials spell.
I like
Adele (pronounced Uh-dell')
Claire
Lavinnia
Margaret (I named my cat Margaret b/4 I had kids, so this was out)
Elizabeth
Joia
Charlotte
I second the idea of going with "strength" rather than "Cute." God willing, she will have this name for a long, long time!
$*$*$*$*$
I figure my chances of winning the Powerball are about the same whether I buy a ticket or not.

I like Maude, Violet (or Viola), Hazel. You should check out some porn sites so you know which names to avoid. Also check out the top 10-20 most popular names and avoid those as well.

By the way AM, you must be listening to our conversations. You've suggested 3 of our top choices - Grace, Margaret (Maggie), and Ada. I know you want to win the competition, but should you really be restorting to wiretapping?
hmmm...well, grace in italian is "grazia" & that's too complicated & requires a "rrrrroll" of the r. same for "graziana" - though this sounds fine w/ a straight r. grah-zee-an-nah "little grace" - very pretty.
margaret = marguerite? marguerette? margarita?
ada? hmmm...addina doesn't work so well...
